About Maejima Memorial Museum
This memorial museum introduces the life and achievements of Maejima Minoru, the father of the postal service. Culture of the Meiji Era ・ The museum introduces Maejima Mamoru, who wielded a wide range of power in politics, with many documents and artifacts.
The museum was built on November 7, 1931 ( Showa 6, 1931 ) at his birthplace ( in Joetsu City, Niigata Prefecture, on the site of the Ueno family mansion ) to commemorate his great achievements in establishing the communications business in Japan. Inside the museum, visitors can view approximately 200 exhibits, including a panel display that introduces the achievements of Minoru Maejima in an easy-to-understand manner, letters from that time, his belongings, ink ( and drawings and paintings ).
